Multi-faith coalition urges India to address rights violations against religious minorities

The World Evangelical Alliance, Open Doors International, the Indian American Muslim Council, Hindus for Human Rights, Justice For All, and the International Commission for Dalit Rights, called on India to guarantee the safety of all Dalit and Adivasi Indians, to investigate and condemn all cases of religious violence and discrimination on religious grounds, to repeal anti-conversion laws, and to repeal religious references in the ‘Scheduled Caste’ Constitutional Order of 1950 which exclude Christian and Muslim Dalits from accessing affirmative action benefits.

The joint statement was made at the Human Rights Council 52nd session, during during the adoption of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) outcome of India, on 27 March 2023.
