Iraq: Legal status of churches and human rights of displaced persons – Oral Statement at the Human Rights Council

The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) delivered an oral statement to the Human Rights Council’s 43rd session, March 12, 2020, as part of the Universal Periodic Review of Iraq, addressing the Iraqi government failure to grant legal recognition to Evangelical Churches as well as affiliation with the Endowment of the Christians, Yezidi, and Sabaean-Mandaean Religions. WEA also called Iraqi authorities to ensure a dignified and continued improvement of living conditions for all citizens, including returning refugees and the internally displaced.
