Libya: Recognize the Right to Freedom of Religion or Belief in line with Article 18 of the ICCPR

At the Human Rights Council 46th Session, during the adoption of Libya’s report by the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group, we stressed the importance of respecting the right to Freedom of Religion or Belief and called on the government of Libya to bring the 2017 draft Constitution in line with Article 18 of the ICCPR. WEA appealed to the Libyan government to ensure the freedom of conscience for all, as mentioned in our pre-session briefing published ahead of Libya’s review during the 36th UPR session.
