The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA), together with its members, the European Evangelical Alliance (EEA) and the Bulgarian Evangelical Alliance, welcomed Bulgaria’s acceptance of recommendations aimed at strengthening freedom of religion or belief, combating discrimination, and ensuring equal access to political and public participation. The statement further encouraged the government to ensure that no religious or ethnic community is unfairly affected during electoral processes.
The oral statement was made at the Human Rights Council 61st session, during the adoption of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) outcome of Bulgaria, on 19 March 2026.
