The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) and Christian Solidarity International (CSI) addressed the alarming escalation of violence in Nigeria and called the Nigerian Government to take immediate and concrete measures to safeguard vulnerable communities, including by adequately training, equipping, and deploying security forces in line with human rights standards, while also addressing the root causes of conflict.
The joint statement further called on Nigeria, with support from the international community, to guarantee displaced persons access to adequate food, shelter, and essential services, in accordance with its human rights obligations.
The joint oral statement was made at the Human Rights Council 60th session, during the General debate on human rights situations that require the Council’s attention, on 23 September 2025.
