Libya: Freedom of Religion or Belief – Report to the UPR 50th Session

Middle East Concern, the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA), ADF International, Jubilee Campaign, Open Doors, Stefanus Alliance International, the Baptist World Alliance (BWA), and the Danish European Mission submitted a joint report to the Human Rights Council ahead of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Libya, scheduled for November 2025 during the UPR 50th session.

Our joint submission reported on the situation of freedom of religion or belief (FoRB) in Libya in the context of violence and discrimination against migrants belonging to religious minorities, accusations of apostasy from Islam and blasphemy against Libyan nationals, leading to arbitrary arrests, detention, violence, and other FoRB-related violations.
