The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA), the Baptist World Alliance (BWA) and Jubilee Campaign (JC), on behalf of a coalition with other NGOs1, called on Libya to immediately and unconditionally release all those imprisoned for apostasy or peaceful conduct concerning their religion or belief; and abolish the death penalty for matters of conscience, including for peaceful religion or belief related practices, choices or views.
The joint oral statement was made at the Human Rights Council 61st session, during the adoption of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) outcome of Libya, on 23 March 2026.
