The World Evangelical Alliance urges the Government of India to find long-term solutions to ethno-religious tensions through dialogue and peaceful negotiation, and calls on the Government of Nigeria to strengthen capacity of police and armed forces to ensure timely responses against attacks on civilians, and provide essential goods to Internally Displaced Persons while supporting their safety and safe return to their land.
Furthermore, the WEA asks the High Commissioner for Human rights to swiftly address with the government of India the Manipur’s ethno-religious hostilities and ensure safety and protection of all minority tribal communities, and to urgently address with the government of Nigeria the severe human rights violations, particularly in the Middle Belt region, by taking immediate and effective steps to protect the population and de-escalate the on-going violence.
