The World Evangelical Alliance called for an immediate ceasefire, full respect for international humanitarian law, and an increase in humanitarian assistance. The statement stressed that humanitarian crisis continues to deepen, with growing displacement, severe hunger, and major barriers preventing humanitarian aid from reaching affected communities. The WEA also emphasized that churches are providing assistance to the most vulnerable members of their communities regardless of their religious background.
The oral statement was made at the Human Rights Council 63rd session, during the General debate on the High Commissioner’s oral updates and reports, on September 8, 2026.
