On 17 July 2026, the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA), Christian Solidarity International (CSI), Middle East Concern (MEC), and Open Doors International (ODI), submitted a joint report to the Human Rights Council ahead of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Sudan, scheduled for January 2027, during the UPR 54th session.
The joint submission highlights key human rights concerns in Sudan, including (1) attacks on Christians in the context of armed conflict, (2) gender-based and sexual violence, (3) attacks on places of worship and violations of the right to religious education, (4) the humanitarian crisis and discrimination in aid access, and (5) exclusion of religious leaders and local peace actors from peace processes.
