On 13 July 2026, the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) and its national member, the Evangelical Fellowship of Uganda, submitted a joint report to the Human Rights Council ahead of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Uganda, scheduled for January 2027, during the UPR 54th session.
The joint submission reported on issues of freedom of religion or belief, including the proposed establishment of a nationwide system of Sharia courts, the undue restrictions on funding, expression, and activities of religious organizations, and the discriminatory enforcement of measures leading to the demolition of Christian places of worship.
