The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) and the Salvation Army called on States to ensure identification and protection of people experiencing trafficking. The joint oral statement stressed that States may have strong laws, referral mechanisms and victim protections, but those systems cannot protect people who are never identified.
The joint statement was made at the Human Rights Council 63rd session, during the Interactive dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of slavery and trafficking in persons, on September 11, 2026.
The two organizations also welcomed the Special Rapporteur’s emphasis on coordination across sectors and stronger implementation of existing laws and policies.
