On 9 July 2024, the Observatory of Religious Freedom in Latin America (OLIRE), the International Institute for Religious Freedom (IIRF), and the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) submitted a joint report to the Human Rights Council ahead of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of El Salvador scheduled for January 2025 during the UPR 48th session.
Our joint submission reported on the right to freedom of religion or belief in El Salvador, specifically with regards to religious freedom of indigenous communities, criminalization of pastoral activities, and the stigmatization of rehabilitation activities in the evangelical sector.
