The World Evangelical Alliance appealed for the repeal of blasphemy laws in more than seventy countries and called on India to hold accountable perpetrators of deadly violence and sexual violence in Manipur, at the Human Rights Council. The WEA further expressed that it looked forward to reading Pakistan’s update to the High Commissioner on the attacks that took place recently against the churches in Jarawala in Faisalabad, and that followed blasphemy allegations.
The oral statement was made at the Human Rights Council 54th session, during the general debate on human rights situations that require the Council’s attention, on September 26, 2023.
