WEA calls on Canada to repeal euthanasia for those whose natural death is not reasonably foreseeable

The World Evangelical Alliance and the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada jointly called on the government of Canada to halt eligibility for euthanasia on the basis of mental illness, to repeal medical assistance in dying provisions for those whose natural death is not reasonably foreseeable, and to protect persons from feeling pressured or induced to request hastened death in moments of vulnerability.

The oral statement was made at the Human Rights Council 55th session, during the adoption of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) outcome of Canada, on 25 March 2024.
